Roughly 80% of Americans are deficient. Are you at risk?
The #1 Mineral Deficiency Damaging
Your Heart and Zapping Your Energy
Learn How a Common, "Invisible" Mineral Deficiency
Can Put Your Heart—and Your Life—at RISK
Dear Health Conscious Reader,

The data is frightening: By some estimates, 80% of adults are deficient in an essential mineral that is responsible for over 600 vital metabolic reactions throughout the human body.[1,14]

Why is this such a big problem? Simply put: This mineral plays a crucial role in just about every aspect of your well-being—from a healthy cardiovascular system, strong bones and optimal brain function to maintaining normal blood pressure, calcium levels and even mood balance.

Without this essential mineral, your cells can't make energy, your nerves and muscles (including your heart) won't work properly, and your blood vessels and arteries will harden over time.

And here's the real shocker:

A recent study published in the journal Atherosclerosis found that over a period of 10 years, the rate of death from heart problems was more than double in people with low levels of this mineral than in those with higher levels. And the death rate from all causes was more than 7 times higher in people with low levels.[2]

Another study from Harvard found that women with the highest levels of this mineral had a 77% lower risk of sudden cardiac death compared to women with the lowest levels.[3]

So what is the absolutely essential mineral I'm talking about? It's magnesium. I know it sounds so common and "ordinary"—which is actually part of the problem. So you may be making the mistake millions make in thinking your levels are just fine. But chances are, you're deficient and your heart health and longevity are at serious risk.

I'm Joshua Corn, Editor-in-Chief of Live in the Now, one of the fastest-growing natural health publications in the nation. My passion for natural health drives me to seek the truth about the causes of health problems and to educate people on alternative solutions that are both safe and effective.

Please keep reading, and I'll give you some easy tips for identifying a deficiency, and I'll tell you about the safe, natural and inexpensive way to increase your magnesium levels so you can avoid a lot of unnecessary health issues and even premature death.

It's truly amazing what can happen when your body is properly fueled with plenty of magnesium.

Studies show that it can...
Boost your heart health and slash your risk of death[2,3]
Support healthy blood pressure levels and circulation[4-6]
Keep the lining of your blood vessels and arteries smooth and elastic[7]
Promote healthy muscle and nerve function[8]
Increase bone density by regulating calcium transport[9]
Balance your moods and help you sleep better at night[10,11]
And much more!

Are YOU Magnesium Deficient?
Know the Signs and the Dangers
Up to 8 in 10 adults have low levels of magnesium,[1,14] so I always tell my readers that chances are good they are suffering from a magnesium deficiency and probably aren't even aware of it.

Magnesium is often referred to as the relaxation mineral. One telltale sign that your magnesium levels are low is difficulty relaxing, whether physically or mentally. Anything in your body that feels tense, tight, cramped or stiff can be a sign of magnesium deficiency.

Magnesium also helps blood vessels relax while keeping the lining of your arteries smooth and elastic. And it helps muscles contract and relax in a healthy manner and supports a calm mental attitude and restful sleep.

For some people, a magnesium deficiency causes noticeable symptoms,[12] including some that might surprise you:
Muscle aches or tightness
Spasms, twitches or tingling
Mental tension
Anxiety or panic
Mood swings
Difficulty sleeping
Restless legs
Cravings for chocolate or coffee
Being ticklish
If you have any of these symptoms—and especially if you have several of them—you need to take action right away to boost your magnesium levels.
Why Are 80% of Adults Magnesium Deficient?
There are several reasons why an overwhelming majority of adults are deficient in magnesium. The primary reason is that we're just not getting enough of it in our diets. The highly processed foods many of us eat on a daily basis contain little to no magnesium.

Leafy greens like kale and spinach, cacao, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and quinoa are all relatively good sources of magnesium, but still you would need to eat an awful lot of these foods on a daily basis to get the amounts of magnesium needed for optimal health.

In addition, there are many other factors that can decrease your body's magnesium levels, including poor digestion, stress and taking certain calcium supplements, among others.
Why Most Doctors Don't Catch This Deficiency
It's important to realize that you can't rely on the blood tests most doctors use to measure magnesium levels. That's because less than 1% of your body's magnesium is actually found in the blood.[13] The other 99% is found in bone and muscle tissue, making it nearly impossible to diagnose using typical laboratory methods.

Too many people—even many doctors—never recognize the symptoms, and this is why this potentially life-threatening deficiency is frequently overlooked, often with tragic consequences. According to Dr. James B. Pierce, author of Heart Healthy Magnesium: Your Nutritional Key to Cardiovascular Wellness, up to 50% of sudden heart attacks may be caused by magnesium deficiency.[14]

I don't mean to scare you, but if you're concerned about the health of your cardiovascular system, this is information you need to know.
How Magnesium Keeps Your
Cardiovascular System Healthy
High blood pressure is often called "the silent killer," because you feel just fine until suddenly you don't.

Magnesium plays a critical role in regulating blood pressure and keeping the endothelial lining of blood vessels smooth and elastic, helping to ensure proper dilation and relaxation of blood vessels.[4-7]

Research has shown that daily doses of 200-400 mg of magnesium can effectively lower blood pressure and improve parameters of blood vessel health.[4-7] One notable double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study examined the effects of magnesium supplementation (300 mg/day for 12 weeks) on blood pressure levels in healthy adults and found that magnesium lowered both systolic and diastolic blood pressure substantially (-17 and -7 mmHg respectively).[6]
Magnesium Is Vital for Your Bones, Brain and More
In addition to its heart health and blood pressure benefits, magnesium is essential for building strong, healthy bones.

Multiple studies have shown that higher magnesium intake is associated with a higher bone mineral density.[9,15,16] The bones serve as the main depository for magnesium in the body, and plenty of it is needed to escort other minerals like calcium into your bones. And perhaps most importantly, it also promotes the growth of osteoblasts, the cells that build new bone.

In the brain, magnesium helps regulate the receptors that play a critical role in learning, memory and mood. Without sufficient magnesium, these receptors become hyper-excitable, causing brain cells to become overstimulated. This can lead to the production of toxic free radicals and, eventually, to brain cell death. The neuronal dysfunction caused by a lack of magnesium can also lead to both mood disorders and problems with the ability to make decisions.[10]
6 Benefits of Magnesium
Consumer Alert: This Popular Supplement
Actually Depletes Magnesium
You might take a calcium supplement, but guess what? You'll be shocked to learn that this can lead to low levels of magnesium. The fact is, when you increase your calcium intake, your need for magnesium increases, draining your stores of magnesium.

Here's another interesting fact: Your body requires sufficient magnesium to transport and deposit the calcium you consume into your bones where it's needed. Without enough magnesium, the calcium that your body can't immediately utilize ends up accumulating in your blood vessels, arteries, brain tissue, joints and other places. This can have serious health consequences.[17]

You've probably seen a calcified pipe or faucet, but what does calcification in the body look like? It's the stiffening of joints, plaque on the teeth, hardening of arteries, gallstones, kidney stones, impaired brain function and more.

The bottom line? You MUST be sure you're getting enough magnesium—especially if you're taking calcium supplements or eating calcium-fortified foods. Research indicates that an intake of calcium and magnesium in a 1:2 ratio is optimal for bone, heart and mood health to prevent excessive calcium from interfering with magnesium's role in these systems.[10]
How to Quickly Correct a Magnesium Deficiency
The good news is that taking a high-quality magnesium supplement can quickly correct a deficiency, and I'd argue that it's an absolute essential for most adults.

I've been an advocate of magnesium supplementation for years, but because there are so many options out there, figuring out what form and dose to take can get confusing. Especially since the wrong kind of magnesium supplement can cause a very unpleasant laxative effect.

The fact is, most magnesium supplements are made overseas with cheap, low-quality forms of magnesium, which are difficult for the body to absorb, and magnesium citrate, which has harsh laxative effects. And some supplements contain pathetically low, ineffective doses of the mineral, which means that in the end, you waste both money and the opportunity to revitalize your health.
