Vitamin K2 is the term for a form of vitamin K compounds called menaquinone. Vitamin K2 is synthesized by bacteria in our guts. It is also found in some fermented foods such as aged cheese and yogurt, and in a Japanese soy food called natto. Very little vitamin K is stored by the body; small amounts of this vitamin are deposited in the liver and in the bones, but this amount is only enough to supply the body's needs for a few days.
Vitamin K2 is considered easier to absorb than other forms of vitamin K.
