Does the Cinnulin PF contain coumarin?
View Answer
It does not. Our Cinnulin PF formula is made using a water extraction which eliminated any fat-soluble constituents like coumarin. Additionally, the type of cinnamon used in our supplement, Cinnamomum burmannii, has the lowest amount of coumarin so our yield for coumarin-free product is exceptional. If our product were not water-extracted, which is the case for the cinnamon spice you use in food, there would be remnants of coumarin in the product. We do, however, still test to ensure that there is no coumarin during the manufacturing process.

I am having symptoms that are similar to chronic fatigue which I had may years ago. I am a regular customer and take the multivitamins with ginkgo, and the fish oil and green tea supplements. My doctor said my blood work showed a slight deficiency in vitamin D, so I have stared taking extra of the D3, though from another source. Do you have any other recommendations?
View Answer
You are on the right track by taking vitamin D3. You also want to look at supporting your adrenals. Chronic fatigue is usually due to excessive
adrenal fatigue where no matter what you do, you cannot muster the energy because there is nothing there. Consider our American Ginseng formula. Ginseng is known for its ability to support the adrenals due to its adaptogenic ability. Because it is an herb that builds you, it may take
several weeks before you begin noticing benefits. If you decide to take American Ginseng, take it daily as the directions say and as time progresses, you may notice more sustainable energy.
Aside from taking supplements, make sure you are eating a primarily whole food diet. Processed and refined foods can leach nutrients from your body, leaving you more fatigued than you would have felt otherwise. Caffeine and sugar do the same.
Lastly, rest as often as you can. Chronic fatigue means that your body is beyond exhausted. Go to bed early and when you can, take naps in the middle of the day to restore your energy. Our bodies go into repair mode when we sleep.
Which product should I take for liver and lung support?
View Answer
If you are looking to support your liver, consider our Milk Thistle formula, which contains artichoke and dandelion to further help cleanse your blood and support the health of your liver. As for your lungs, we don't have anything that can directly support their health due to the fact that there isn't anything that reaches the lungs or bronchioles. If something did, that would lead to more health issues.
What you can look into however, are supplements that may support the health of your tissues overall as well as reduce free radical damage throughout your body. Many health issues are due to oxidation or free radical damage taking place in the body. The more vegetables, fruits and in some cases, antioxidant supplements you take, the better chance in reducing the oxidation taking place. Some supplements worth considering are vitamin C, such as our Vitamin C Tablets and Green Tea. Green Tea's catechin antioxidants, specifically epigallocatechin gallate (ECGC), are particularly good at neutralizing the types of free radicals that threaten the health of the lungs.
Are there any supplements I can take for an underactive thyroid? The Doctor says it's not enough to take medication.
View Answer
Consider taking selenium, a trace mineral that has been shown to be essential in supporting healthy thyroid function. Studies have shown that selenium is needed by the enzyme in the thyroid that converts the thyroid hormone T4 to the active form, T3. With insufficient selenium, the T4 hormone is unable to convert, which leads to a deficiency in thyroid hormone and hence thyroid production. Kelp is an herb that many who have hypothyroidism or leaning towards hypothyroidism take to supply a sufficient natural supply of iodine to the thyroid.
Can anything help prevent or reverse gray hair?
View Answer
If your graying hair is genetic, there isn't much that can be done. If it is due to stress or nutritional deficiency, then consider taking a good quality multivitamin such as our Multi Nutrient GOLD. A lack of nutrients such as B vitamins, biotin and vitamin A can not only result in hair loss, but also graying hair. Stress also contributes to it and taking an antioxidant supplement or multivitamin like what I mentioned provides a host of antioxidants to help reduce free radical damage, which is a result of stress. If you are interested in individual vitamins and minerals, we carry a variety such as a Vitamin B Complex and Biotin.
I am a very sporty person in my early forties. I practice hand ball two times a week. I know that I have to take vitamins and minerals. Which one of your products would be the best for me?
View Answer
Consider our Multi Nutrient GOLD formula. It is our top of the line multivitamin that is great for people who are sporty. Not only does it have the necessary vitamins and minerals to support your health and well being, there are also antioxidants, which are essential in helping reduce oxidation or free radical damage in the body. Stress, whether from an internal or external source (exercise being external), can lead to oxidation in the body. Antioxidants can help slow or inhibit that process. Our Multi Nutrient GOLD also contains additional antioxidants not found in our other multivitamins: resveratrol, acai berry, quercetin, a higher amount of alpha lipoic acid and 2000 IU of vitamin D3 versus 1000 IU in our other multivitamins. I would also consider a high-quality fish oil such as our Omega-T formula and our Super Osteo GOLD for joint health since you're so active.

I have pinched nerves in my legs and it is very painful and hard to walk. Do you have a prdouct that will help with this?
View Answer
Have you considered taking St. John's Wort? It is a wonderful herb to help in cases of sciatica or nerve pain, which is what it sounds like you're experiencing. Although this herb is more widely known for use in cases of depression, it does serve other purposes. If you are not on any medications, it is worth considering.
Which of your products will aid in increasing vascular elasticity? My husband was told by his doctor that his veins are as stretchable as in his younger years and that is why he now has high blood pressure - one of the factors. He is 65.

Are there other sources of CoQ10? How do I know if I need to supplement? All I read on this subject is, "If you're over 30, you need it." In addition, how much should I take, 100, 200mg, or more?
View Answer
Studies have shown that after the age of 30, our bodies produce much less coQ10 than what was produced when we were born, which is why supplementing with coQ10 is suggested. Natural sources of coQ10 include oily fish such as wild salmon, tuna and mackerel, organ meats (livers, hearts) and whole grains. As for dosage suggestion, if you are dealing with any cardiovascular issues or on a statins, consider taking 200 mg or more. If not, you can go with less and make sure you eat the foods that contain coQ10 about 2 times a week to add to the supplement. One "rule of thumb" is that you should take 1 mg per 1 pound of body weight, so that may be a good place to start.

What would be the best item to take to try to maintain brain health?
View Answer
Our Brain Energizer is a fabulous product to consider as it serves to protect the brain from several different angles. It offers high dose antioxidants, curcumin, DHA and other ingredients which increase brain circulation and activity. Another great addition to your regimen for brain health is Omega T fish oil. Omega-3s have been shown to support brain health due to the essential fatty acid DHA which protect the brain's myelin sheath. The most abundant fat found in the brain, actually, is DHA. A deficiency of DHA in the brain leads to dementia and other issues related to mental decline.

I have been gaining weight without changing my diet, I am tired all the time,my skin is getting dry, I have no appetite and my hair is falling out. By the way, I am 59 y/o this year. One of my daughters has a thyroid issue and my sister had her thyroid removed. My chiropractor said this can run in families. I have a dr appt in three weeks and I am concerned about what is happening. I am tired of being told "just live with it, you're getting older and this happens", which is what my dr said to me.
View Answer
The symptoms you mentioned do indicate you may have an issue with low thyroid. Due to the fact that hypothyroidism runs in your family, you are at higher risk. You mentioned that you will by seeing your physician in a few weeks. When you due, ask your physician to test the hormone levels in your thyroid. Not only should your TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) be tested, but so should your free T4. T4 is a thyroid hormone that is converted to the active hormone T3. Testing your free T4 levels is more reliable than just testing your TSH levels. If your T4 levels are low, it is a good indication you are hypothyroid.
As for supplements that may be of benefit, consider taking Selenium Capsules. The enzyme that converts T4 to T3 needs selenium to be fully active. Deficiencies in selenium can reduce the enzymes effectiveness and therefore impair thyroid function.
The seaweed Kelp, is also worth considering. Kelp is naturally high in iodine and other trace minerals. Many who have found they are hypothyroid due to an issue with their thyroid hormone production which is not related to their TSH levels have found benefit in taking kelp as a supplement. We currently do not have this supplement, however we will be bringing it in within the next few weeks.
Lastly, consider avoiding foods that deplete thyroid function. These foods include: soy, raw cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, kale, mustard greens, turnips, etc.), peaches, strawberries and peanuts.
Is there a mineral or vitamin that will eliminate excruciatingly painful leg and foot cramping in the night?
View Answer
Generally, magnesium has been known to be beneficial. You can take higher doses with either a stand alone supplement or something called ionic fizz. We also have a stand alone magnesium supplement which people have really benefited from.
You can also soak in an epsom salt before bed and that has been known to provide some minerals to help relax your muscles and reduce night-time cramping. Consider a stretching regimen before bed and, believe it or not, wearing socks when you sleep seems to help reduce cramping for most people.
