Stop Aging Now was founded in 1996 by Jean Carper, a medical journalist, best-selling author, consumer advocate and leading authority on health and nutrition. She has written 23 books, including three New York Times best-sellers including Food: Your Miracle Medicine, Miracle Cures and Stop Aging Now! She is a weekly nutrition columnist for USA Weekend Magazine that has 50 million readers and is distributed in 600 newspapers nationwide. She also does nutrition news reports for XM Satellite Radio.

In 2007, Jean Carper decided she wanted to spend more time writing, contributing to her many charitable and cultural activities, and doing what she does best - living life to its fullest. She sold Stop Aging Now to her former Director of Operations Joshua Corn, who now serves as the company's CEO and whom she had confidence would carry on the Stop Aging Now legacy and reputation. Why we were established

Jean formed the corporation Stop Aging Now in 1996 in response to popular demand, after publication of her best-selling book, Stop Aging Now! Readers of the book asked her to develop an anti-aging multi-vitamin based on research in the book, so they would not have to shop for and take so many individual pills daily.

The result was our acclaimed Multi Nutrient Formula, which combines potent doses of 28 vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Since then we have expanded. What We Believe...

We believe that everyone can live a longer, healthier life with constant, good, quality nutrition that uses the latest clinical scientific studies as guidelines. The U.S. Recommended Daily allowance (U.S.R.D.A), that is the basis for most nutritional labels in this country is based on only "survival" levels of common vitamins and minerals. This means that this is what the government is recommending to avoid nutrition deficiencies. A good example of this is too little vitamin C can lead to scurvy. However the U.S.R.D.A is a highly politicized guideline that is outdated and is not focused towards optimal nutrition, just "survival" nutrition. However there are thousands of studies from prestigious institutions all over the world that show that certain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, in doses that often far higher than those in the U.S.R.D.A. is not only safe, but can ward off several health problems and diseases including diabetes, Alzheimer's, osteoporosis, macular degeneration and even cancer.

The Free Radical Theory...

We also believe in the Free Radical Theory. The free radical theory goes this way: Aging occurs when cells are permanently damaged by continual attacks from chemical particles called free radicals. Free radicals can originate from your body but also from environmental factors such as toxins, contaminants, processed food, radiation, smoking and more. Simply, the cellular damage accumulates over the years, until the totality of destruction reaches the point of no return - diseases clustered at the end of life and eventually death. This, then - the perpetual but futile struggle of individual cells to stay alive and function normally, in the face of chemical disintegration - is the genesis of aging and all its consequences. Indeed, an estimated 80 to 90 percent of all degenerative diseases involve free radical activity, say some experts.

However it goes beyond that. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not regulate dietary supplements. In many ways this is a good thing because it makes available a wide variety of supplements that are relatively cheap and easy to acquire. But this lack of regulation does leave the door open to some unscrupulous companies to make inferior products... even grossly inferior products... sometimes even criminally inferior products. Our commitment to quality, as well as the time, energy and money we obsessively spend on quality, exceed any other company we know. All of our products are:

Additionally, we are very choosy about the source of our ingredients, preferring prestigious brand-names from companies with sterling reputations, over less expensive generic ingredients. Such high-end ingredients are often supported by tests on humans and/or animals, proving their effectiveness and safety. For example, our Brain Energizer uses R-alpha lipoic acid, often used in research studies on the brain; The R form is far more potent and expensive than the ordinary alpha lipoic acid form. Our Osteo GC formula, contains an expensive, pure form of chondroitin (Chondropure) derived only from cows in the United States, not Southeast Asia or Europe, used in many other formulas. Our Multi Nutrient Formula doesn't contain generic Zinc but OptiZinc, a patented, superior form.

We test our products more than any other company. All our ingredients and products are tested at several stages to be sure they are of proper purity and potency. Our manufacturers test all ingredients received from suppliers prior to inclusion in the supplements; they test the finished pills before packaging and again after they are bottled. Our quality testing includes all of the ingredients, even in our 32-ingredient Multi Nutrient GOLD Formula. This is far more comprehensive than analyses done by other companies which frequently test a random sampling of some ingredients. The production facilities that make and package our supplements are additionally certified by Shuster Laboratories, one of the most reputable independent testing laboratories in the world.

We also take the unusual step of having formulas, where it is appropriate, tested for antioxidant capacity. Although many companies claim their formula contains high antioxidants, such as lutein and lycopene, they do not verify that with testing and provide precise antioxidant values to consumers. We do.
