Product Overview

5-HTP is the "stepping stone" from tryptophan (an amino acid found in high concentration in turkey and milk) to the neurotransmitter, serotonin. Since serotonin is involved in everything from mood and appetite to sleep and memory, having balanced and healthy levels of serotonin is critical to health. And one way to ensure healthy serotonin production is to ensure that the body has plenty of 5-HTP.

5-HTP possesses the unique ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and therefore has an effect on serotonin production in the central nervous system tissue which can better supply the brain with adequate amounts. It has historically been known to be an effective approach for mood imbalances and anxiety. More recent research indicates that it may also be effective for those with insomnia and for promoting weight loss.
