D-mannose is a naturally occurring sugar that promotes healthy bladder, kidney and urinary tract function and helps to promote an optimal environment for your body's microflora. It is one of the beneficial sugars present in cranberries, which contributes to the cranberry's antimicrobial properties.

While some methods of promoting bladder health pose a risk by interrupting the body's healthy microflora balance, d-mannose ensures that your body's microbial environment will remain well supported. It works by binding to undesirable substances and foreign particles in the urinary tracts and ushering them out of the system..

Since only minute amounts are metabolized in the body, this natural sugar will not alter your blood sugar levels. It is absorbed much slower than glucose then almost immediately enters the urinary tract via the kidneys, posing little to no influence on healthy blood sugar levels.
