Product Overview

Licorice is derived from the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra, a plant in the legume family. While it is best known for its sweetening and flavoring properties, the licorice extract has also been known to have medicinal applications and has been traditionally used in both conventional and naturopathic medicine for centuries.

De-glycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL, is a form of licorice extract, which has the glycyrrhizin (a compound more than 50 times sweeter than sugar) removed. While standard licorice (which includes glycyrrhizin) may be great for short term use in the treatment of respiratory infections and chronic fatigue, DGL is safe for long term use and has been known to sooth the stomach and ease digestive tract discomfort.
