Product Overview
Turmeric has been used as a component of curry spice blends and a medicinal herb for thousands of years in India and throughout Asia. Traditionally, this bright yellow spice, made from the root of the turmeric plant, was used as a topical pain and inflammation reliever in Ayurvedic medicine. However, recent research has shown that there is a compound found in turmeric called curcumin that gives turmeric its health-promoting power. Curcumin is now well known to support optimal brain function, a healthy cardiovascular system and healthy joints.
As an extract in supplements, curcumin is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. It helps to slow the effects of aging caused by inflammation. Studies have shown that curcumin's anti-inflammatory abilities can also reduce exercise induced muscle damage and improve performance.
Epidemiological studies indicate that cultures with diets high in this spice have significantly lower cases of neurodegenerative diseases.
