Black cohosh is an herb that has been used extensively in Europe for treating hot flashes, mood swings, irritability, sleep disturbances and other symptoms related to menopause. Extensive clinical research shows that black cohosh is among the most effective herbal remedies for menopause. Black cohosh has estrogen-like effects within the body and is commonly used to reduce some of the discomforts associated with menopause as well as PMS.
